Protest Fire

For one week of spring break, Damien decided to take Pip and Pandora to DC, to show Pandora the root of American evil. He didn't word it that when talking to his husband, but he did tell Pandora that and she laughed at her silly daddy. Bones, Ash, and Pyramid Head were ordered to stay home while Lucy and Lucia went along with the family. The three seemed disappointed, but knew that they couldn't go with them in a public where people aren't used to seeing monsters.
Being there in the capital of the US wasn't as thrilling to the six-year-old girl as she had expected. The only thing that lifted her spirits was when Damien told her about the corruption of the government world, but made it funny and understandable for her. As they walked down a random street, they came across a large group of people holding a bunch of signs and yelling about something and looking angry about it. Pandora noticed first and tugged on her father's hand and pointed over to the crowd of people.
"Daddy, what are those people doing?" Pandora questions curiously.
Damien looks over at where his daughter is pointing, while Pip does the same. It takes a moment for them to understand what the people are rallying about, but once they do, both men frown deeply.
"They're a Gay protest rally." Damien says in a venomous hiss.
"What's that?" Pandora holds her father's hand in both hands and looks up at him.
"Gays are people like me and daddy, Pandora. It's what people call two men or two women who love each other." Pip explains as he crouches down to Pandora's level.
"But protest means people against something. Why are they against people like you and daddy? I don't understand." The young half-demon looks at Pip with wide and confused red eyes.
"Because there are a lot of people who are afraid of what they don't understand." Damien crouches down and picks up his blonde daughter as Pip stands back up. "They believe that people who are different like me and Pip are bad people because we love someone of the same gender. And it's not just me and mommy, Panda, they hate everyone like us."
"But…why? Why does it matter what other people do if it's none of their business?" Pandora groans slightly, just getting more confused with every answer. Lucia whimpers at the noise and Lucy nudges the younger hellhound's muzzle.
"A lot of reasons, Panda. The Bible says in only a couple places that homosexuals, gays, are abominations and shouldn't be like that. They think just a lot of bad things because we're not like them. Basically, they're scared of us because we're different and they think everyone should be like them. Because we're not like them, they think we shouldn't be allowed to do things we want, like getting married and having children." Damien ruffles Pandora's hair and places a kiss on her brow.
"But gay people like you and mommy aren't hurting anyone. They're not doing anything wrong, so why does it matter? I don't get them." Pandora looked over to the rally of people, glaring.
"No one really gets them, Pandora. They're just people who are too closed-minded and don't want anything they don't understand." Pip says as he takes one of her hands.
Pandora shoves her mother's hand away and squirms out of her father's grasp. The demon prince releases his daughter and she jumps down onto the pavement. The young girl set off running quickly towards the rally of people, even vanishing in fire only to reappear a couple feet away. Lucy and Lucia bark before chasing after the girl, both Damien and Pip following right behind.
They catch up just after Pandora starts to argue with a woman near the back. Just as they get close, the girl ducks into the crowd and moves around to the front. Both her parents and the hellhounds go in after her in the crowd, and Damien catches up to her first. He scoops the young girl into his arms and tosses the black-dressed girl over his shoulder. She struggles only a little before giving up and allowing her father to walk out of the crowd.
Once Damien, with Pandora, go back out of the crowd and find Pip, people finally notice them. Lucy and Lucia catch up right as one woman holding a purple picket sign with the words "GOD HATES GAYS" in black paint walks over to them, wearing an expression almost as ugly as her dress. Damien glares at the woman while other people start to notice the couple and daughter with hellhounds as well. Instead of talking directly to them, the woman turns and yells,
"See what we're here for?! This is how they treat children! We cannot allow these people to adopt and marry!"
Damien gives Pandora over to Pip and crosses his arms. Using a bit of magic, the demon amplifies his voice.
"Oh yes, I'm such a terrible person because I'm a homosexual and have a child. It's totally not okay for two guys to lovingly raise a child as if she was a princess, but it's completely fine for two abusive fuck-up drunks to raise ten kids on government money as long as they're straight. Yeah, you people sure have your priorities in the right place."
Damien makes a very rude gesture before taking Pip's free hand and walking away with his family. Pandora, over Pip's shoulder, continues to glare at the people shouting at the two. Pip suddenly turns around and shouts, with an amplification from Damien,
"I can quote the Bible too! 'A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed' Deuteronomy twenty-two, thirteen to twenty-one!"
The demon prince chuckles as he walks hand-in-hand with Pip away from the crowd, giving the blonde man a peck on the cheek. With Pandora looking over her mother's shoulder, the half-demon glares at the people with growing hate. Suddenly, everything around them burst on fire and the fire spreads to the people. Pip and Damien turn around at the sound of people screaming, and the two hellhounds start barking madly at the sudden chaos. Damien began laughing so hard he doubled over and then fell onto the ground laughing. Pip put Pandora down as he tried his hardest to hide his amusement with his hand over his mouth. Neither noticed the devilishly happy smirk that was a mirror image of her father on Pandora's face.
