Three Dimensional

"I've realized something, Damien."
Damien Thorn looked up from the television towards his boyfriend as the blonde moved to sit down on the couch right next to the demon.
"What have you realized? If it's bad, I'm sorry, but if it's not then I'm happy." Damien responded as Pip sat down.
"You're so complicated." Pip stated as he looked down at the ground in front of himself.
Lucy whimpered and nudged her nose under Pip's hand. The blonde absentmindedly looked to her and stroked the Rottweiler's head.
"I feel like I'm handling a ticking time bomb and there are always a million and one different things that can happen depending on what I do. It's crossed my mind hundreds of times that you might be bipolar or schizophrenic." Damien snorted in amusement before letting Pip go on. "I mean…sometimes you act like this cool guy who just doesn't give a damn and if the world exploded around you, you wouldn't bat an eyelash. Sometimes you're the class clown who has to make some sort of joke or piss someone off for your entertainment.
"Around me, you're like the perfect boyfriend, and I really mean that. You try so hard to embody the very idea of perfection just for me. If you start to think I might get upset over something, you'll immediately backtrack and apologize profusely and assure that you didn't mean it and that you don't want me to be upset. If something makes me happy, you'll obsess over getting that reaction again until I no longer become happy from whatever it is. If I am upset, you'll find a reason for it and act however you see fit; like if someone bullied me, you'd bully them right back. If thinking about something made me sad, you'd console me and tell me it's all alright, even if something isn't right. When we're not doing anything at all, you're perfectly content just lying on the couch with me doing nothing."
Damien chuckled before reaching over and grabbing Pip by the shoulders. The demon pulled his boyfriend into his lap and snuggled close to his blonde Brit.
"You're pretty complicated yourself, Pip, believe me. Around everyone you try to be so happy because that's what they expect of you. When you're alone, the world starts to get to you and that mask falls away. With me, you honestly get to be happy, just genuinely, honestly happy. When you're upset, you let it get to you and act out how you feel, usually by crying for a bit. Then you wipe away the tears and get on with your life. If someone pushes you too far, you get angry and we know how messy that ends. But it just means that you feel things and that's more than plenty of people can say. I honestly think that there's no such thing as being pessimistic. Pessimists are just people who have their eyes open to the real world, because it's a horrible place. I've heard you talk about the world and people, Pip, and you definitely have your eyes open. But optimists just have their eyes shut so tightly that they're going blind. I really prefer that you have them open, because they are a brilliant shade of blue." Damien placed a light kiss on Pip's temple.
"Since when do you say things like brilliant in that context?" Pip asked with a growing smile and blush.
"Sorry, Harry Potter marathon takes me back to my English-raised roots." Damien replied in a pseudo-English accent.
Pip chuckled and looked over to the television, noting that Harry Potter really was being shown. Lucy jumped up onto the couch and lied down on top of Pip's chest, her head resting right under his neck. The blonde smiled and stroked the hellhound's head.
"At least I'm not a woman or I'd be a worse rollercoaster of emotions and no one would be able to handle me." Damien said jokingly, getting a chuckle from Pip.
