In the world of Pokémon, there is one special place that only those creatures are allowed to be in, with the exception of the one human that helps watch over them. The special place is considered a safe haven among Pokémon, for no humans, other than the one, are allowed to enter and non-play battles are forbidden in the haven. The haven has every sort of terrain any Pokémon would want, ponds and streams, two small mountains; one with an ice peak, the other a dormant volcano; desert, forest, open plains, everything.
The haven is so great that hundreds of Pokémon live there and are born and raised there, while others migrate there. And only certain trainers with connections and the strong will to find this place have the ability to. Overall, the amount of trainers that visit have been scarce, yet they aren't a necessity. The Pokémon that live in the Special area love the seclusion with only them; most believe that trained Pokémon are too violent.
A man in dark clothes and a red bandana gazes upon the wonderful land and watches the Pokémon roaming around. Then he spots what he was looking for, a small cabin that is surrounded with Pokémon and one girl. As the man approaches, he is able to make out the details, like the girl seems to be in her early twenties with a worn blue dress and an apron; she has brown hair down to the small of her back. When the man is close enough, the Pokémon around her look up, the Butterfree and Beautifly flock over and circle him before going back to the girl. When she notices the man, the girl stands up with a young Bulbasaur in her arms and gives him a warm smile.
"Hello, sir, and welcome to Paradise. It must've been hard for you to get here; I'm told it always is." The girl says in a sing-song voice.
"It was, but I was determined to get here. I've heard that you allow trainers' Pokémon to stay here for a while." The man puts his hands on his belt, which contains six small Pokéballs.
The girl smiles and nods before speaking, "Of course. Paradise is open to all Pokémon, wild or trained. In fact, I still have four Pokémon from a trainer who arrived yesterday." The girl looks over and points with one hand, which the man follows and looks over.
There is a group of five Pokémon, a Machop, Ralts, Pichu, Munchlax, and Meowth.
"But there are five." The man points out, to which the girl frowns sadly.
"Oh, that Meowth is Pip, a native. He was orphaned because his parents were killed by hunters. It took him a long time to find this place, but he managed somehow and has been a loved member of Paradise." The girl ends with a light smile before looking back to the man. "How many Pokémon do you have, and how long would you like them to stay here?"
"Six, and just for this day, I'll be back at dusk." The man answers with a light smile.
With the girl's word to go ahead, the man takes his Pokéballs and tosses them out, releasing his Pokémon; Houndour, Houndoom, Mightyena, Sneasel, Sableye, and a shiny Umbreon. Once released, all the Pokémon line up and stand at attention to their trainer, Sneasel and Sableye keep their arms down to their sides.
"At ease." The trainer commands and the Pokémon relax their positions.
The Pokémon watch as their trainer talks with the woman, they seem to be having a sort of light argument and from what they can gather, their trainer wants to pay her and she doesn't seem to want to accept. After a final denial of payment, the man gives in and asks about any rules there may be. Once told of them, the trainer turns to his Pokémon and crouches down in front of them; they all gather closer to him and form a sort of semi-circle.
"Alright, everyone, this is a vacation for you all. I don't want any fighting at all. Understand?" The Pokémon all nod at once. The man looks over to the Houndour and says, "Damien, now I know how badly you want to evolve, but this is a rule from both me and the Pokémon who live here. No. Fighting." The man says sternly to the singled-out Pokémon. The Houndour flattens his short ears and nods once. "Good. Now, I'll be back at sunset."
Their trainer pats each of his Pokémon on their head before standing up and talking to the woman for a couple more minutes before turning around and leaving the way he came. The man's Pokémon watch forlornly as their trainer leaves before turning their attention to the other human, who crouches down in front of them while the mainly grass or bug type Pokémon stay behind her.
"You're all allowed to go wherever you want."
The trainer's Pokémon stare at the woman in shock before the Houndoom questions in a deep bark,
"You speak Pokémon?"
The woman smiles warmly and nods. "Of course I do, I live with them, after all. Now I know your trainer told you already, but you're not allowed to battle. If you get hungry, just ask someone for help and I'm sure they'll get you some. Oh, and what are your names?"
"Damien." The Houndour states first.
"I am Lucifer, and Damien here is my only son." The Houndoom glances down at the pup Pokémon.
"I am Yen." The Mightyena says in a surprising voice; the Pokémon is a girl.
"Moon." The blue-banded Umbreon says in an uncaring voice.
"I'm Diamond, named after my favorite food." The Sableye wipes a bit of drool from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.
"Black Ice, but I go by Ice." The Sneasel smirks and crosses her arms.
"Ice Queen is more like it." Damien mumbles, getting nudged by his father's paw.
"It's nice to meet you all. I hope you have plenty of fun here."
The girl proceeds to point out places for the Pokémon where they would most be at home; the mountaintop for Ice, an opening at the bottom of the mountain for Diamond, the forest for Yen and Moon, and the top of the other mountain, a dormant volcano, for Lucifer and Damien. The Pokémon politely bow at her before turning around and scattering into pairs towards the places pointed out for them. Ice and Diamond race to the mountain while Yen and Moon take their time getting to the forest, as the father-son pair walk calmly to the volcano.
As they get close to the base of the volcano, the duo of fire-dark dogs notice the group of five Pokémon their trainer saw earlier. The four trained Pokémon seem to be picking on the Meowth, apparently too busy with that to notice the two new Pokémon getting closer to them. Damien and Lucifer skirt the other Pokémon and begin to ascend the mountain. A cry of pain catches their attention; both look down to see four of the Pokémon laughing at the Meowth, which seems to be holding his head in pain. Damien scoffs, shooting a bit of fire from his mouth, as his father looks at him.
"Do you see that? Four ganging up on one, the one obviously weaker than them. Have they no self-respect or honor?" The Houndour looks up to his father.
"Not all Pokémon are raised like us. They probably grow from fighting those weaker than them." Lucifer answers with his devil tail flicking. "From the way they look, I'd guess they have trainers."
"What sort of pitiful human would encourage their Pokémon to fight unfair battles?" Damien growls while looking back down at the four Pokémon shoving the Meowth around.
"I don't know, son. But this is not our business, now come, my son. We've got a vacation day to start." Lucifer nudges Damien's side and turns before walking back up the volcano.
Damien turns and follows his father loyally, putting the other Pokémon down at the base of the volcano out of his mind. He does this for only a few seconds, as another cry from the cat Pokémon reminds the skeleton-covered dog and infuriates him. Just as his father turns around, Damien repeatedly jumps down and lands between the four Pokémon and the injured one. Damien growls at them, making fire bubble out of his mouth; the four trained Pokémon flinch and move back.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" The Munchlax asks in annoyance.
"I should ask you the same thing. Fighting four against one, it's pitiful. You should all be taught a lesson!"
Damien lunges forward, and only the Machop moves forward, but the Houndour doesn't get to make that attack on any of them. The other Pokémon look on in shock at the Houndour pinned down by a Houndoom that is snarling angrily at him. They listen quietly as the Houndoom tells off his son in a stern and scary quiet voice, one that instills more fear than any yelling could do.
Once the stern talking-to is over with, Lucifer looks up and snarls at the onlookers, making the four run off towards the near-by forest while the Meowth cowers in place. Lucifer goes back to looking at his son, who is looking away in angry shame, and then grabs his pup by the neck and picks him up like that. With Damien hanging in his mouth, Lucifer glances to the scared and confused Meowth, and then looks back to the volcano. Son still in his mouth, the Houndoom rapidly ascends the volcano, jumping from ledge to ledge and running up or diagonally up where ledges are absent.
The demonic-looking Pokémon makes it to the summit of the small volcano less than a mile high in near-record time. Once at the top, Lucifer sets his son down on the brimstone around the drop off into the lava below. Disgruntled and somewhat humiliated, the Houndour lies down and curls up near the edge with his face overhanging the side to watch the bubbling lava. Lucifer lies down next to his considerably smaller son while hanging his front legs and head over the side to watch the lava.
The two fire-dark type Pokémon bask in the heat of the volcano, both tempers recede considerably and the two are calm within moments. Damien suddenly gets up, earning a look from his father.
"I'm just going to find some food." He announces as he turns around.
The two are suddenly buffeted by some wind; Damien digs in his claws to keep from falling back. Ash and dirt rises around from the force of the wind, but it doesn't last too long. When the dust settles, Damien looks up and almost flinches, almost. There is a, in his opinion, very large bird Pokémon perched right in front of him; it takes him a moment to recognize it as a Pidgeot.
"Would you like an easier trip back down?" The Pidgeot offers as she crouches down.
Damien stares at the Pidgeot for a moment, wondering why the timing was so perfect, before nodding and walking over to the wing, which the Pidgeot stretches out to let the Houndour on. Once on the large bird's back, she takes off and glides down the volcano. For a moment, Damien wonderings if it always felt this exhilarating to fly, and if so, he slightly wishes he was a flying type before tossing that thought aside. The Pidgeot lands on the ground right beside a lake surrounded by trees that are obviously filled with berries.
After thanks from Damien, the Pidgeot nods to him, hops over to an Oran tree and picks a berry before placing it on the ground at Damien's feet. Damien thanks the Pidgeot again before digging into the Oran berry while the bird Pokémon takes off. Too involved in his food, Damien doesn't notice the other presence not too far from him, also eating an Oran berry. But the other Pokémon notices Damien, it was hard not to, seeing as how he came down on the back of a nearly-five-foot bird Pokémon.
Pip the Meowth looks up from his spot between two berry trees to watch the Houndour finishing the Oran berry the other Pokémon got him. Pip knows that Pidgeot and has always known how very eager she is to give others rides on her back, she constantly circles Paradise just looking for Pokémon that either wave her down or seem like they might need her assistance. Too nervous to approach the Houndour, Pip stays where he is and watches the Pokémon stare longingly up at a hanging berry.
Damien looks up at the berry and feels the fire inside his belly churning as he prepares to use an attack. When the churning fire reaches his mouth, Damien spits it out to use the Ember attack. The fire attack veers a little off-course from where he wanted and chars the berry itself instead of burning off the stem. Even with a burned berry that Damien would still eat, the Oran berry refuses to fall.
The Houndour snarls at the hanging berry that refuses to fall and shoots another bout of ember, reducing the berry to ash. The ash crumbles and falls to the ground, completely worthless as food, which Damien realizes and snarls at before kicking it up with his paw. The Houndour sits down and glances up and around at the berries hanging on the tree and tries to figure out another plan to get them down. Being only two feet tall, and the tree at least six, along with no climbing skills or anything to throw, it seems hopeless for Damien to get another berry.
Pip, having seen the Houndour's struggle for food, gets up onto his hind feet and places one paw on the tree next to him to keep balanced. With his other paw, Pip takes the coin from his forehead off, aims carefully, and uses Pay Day by tossing the coin into the air. Pip's aim is true, as the coin slices through the stem on one of the Oran berries and successfully cuts it from the tree. Unfortunately for the Meowth, instead of landing in front of him, the berry lands directly on the Houndour's head and bounces off, rolling a bit around his paws.
Recovering quickly from the sudden and surprising attack on his head, Damien stands up and looks around, calling out for whoever did that to come out. When something glinting in the light catches his eye, Damien bounds over to it and looks down at it for a few moments, trying to figure out why this thing looks so familiar. Then he remembers the image of Meowths he's seen before, all of them had coins like this on their head.
No sooner does Damien remember this than Pip walks out from the trees and over to the coin. Damien steps back and allows the Meowth to pick up the coin and place it on his brow where it belongs; Damien had thought it odd seeing a Meowth with no coin on their forehead. Pip looks over to Damien and sits down with flattened ears and a guilty and scared smile.
"Hello, I'm Pip. I saw you trying to get an Oran berry and thought I could help. I didn't think it would fall on your head, so I apologize for that." The Meowth explains, trying to seem unthreatening.
The Houndour tilts his head to the side as he digests what the Pokémon told him for a moment, trying to figure out why he looks familiar at the same time. Then he remembers the Pokémon from earlier.
"You're that Meowth the other Pokémon were bullying." Damien states plainly.
Pip nods and raises his ears hopefully at the thought that maybe he won't get hurt.
"Yes, that was me. I wanted to thank you for saving me from them." Pip smiles a bit more to the grumpy-looking Pokémon.
Damien scoffs a bit, which makes a small plume of fire flare from his mouth before whisking away into the air.
"I wasn't saving you; I wanted to teach those bullies a lesson in humility and respect. Picking on the weak is pitiful, even more so when purposely outnumbering them."
Pip doesn't seem at all fazed that he was called weak, as he knows he is compared to many and keeps smiling at the Houndour and swishes his tail.
"Still, you did get them to leave me alone, so thank you." The Meowth walks over to the Oran berry he cut down and uses his paw to gently swat it over to Damien.
The Houndour ignores the Meowth and eats the berry cut down for him in two bites. At an offer from the cat Pokémon, Damien follows him around as a short tour of Paradise. With nothing else to really do, since lying in front of a volcano and not being allowed to fight made everything boring, Damien thought he might as well have something to do for the day.
Of all the places, Damien still liked the Volcano the best, as nothing else Paradise had seemed to have anything he enjoyed; mainly, solitude. Everywhere he went was full of Pokémon, even the edge of the desert. The forest was the one place he disliked the most, other than the various pools that dotted around Paradise. The only thing almost as annoying as his weakness of water was his strength against grass-type and bug-type Pokémon, which were abundant in the forest. Despite Damien's complaining in the forest, Pip didn't seem that bothered by it, but he did lead him out of the forest to calm him quicker.
Sunset came by in a flash, and as soon as the six dark-types noticed it, they all left wherever they were and went to the cottage as quickly as they could. It took a little longer for Ice and Diamond, since Ice was left to find Diamond and get him out of the underground. They all waited patiently to the side of the cottage for their master; Yen and Moon took a nap while Ice and Diamond bragged to anyone around about anything, but Damien and Lucifer acted more respectable and sat at attention with their eyes locked onto the direction where their master will come from.
During the waiting, Pip shyly hovered around, but stayed near the Pokémon around the house to seem inconspicuous. Damien obviously took notice, but he kept his focus on the place where his master would come. All of the dark Pokémon noticed when four out-of-place Pokémon approached them; it was more that these four together seemed out-of-place more than the placement.
"What d'you weirdoes want?" Ice growls and holds his clawed hands up menancingly.
"We're here to settle a score." A Munchlax answers, points at Damien and says, "With him."
Ice and Diamond both look over to Damien while Yen and Moon sleep away and Lucifer, the only one who knows what happened, keeps his eyes locked onto the dirt road. The two clawed dark-types practically bound over to Damien and begin asking what happened and accusing him of fighting.
"My son did nothing, so knock it off." Lucifer says with a tone that leaves no room for talking back.
The Machop and Ralts walk over to stand on one side of Damien while the Munchlax and Pichu stand behind him, all of them looking sternly at him. Damien keeps his eyes locked onto the area forward along with his father, while Ice and Diamond walk away, disappointed that they have nothing to get Damien in trouble in with. The Houndoom stands up and calmly walks down to the dirt road and sits there while facing the direction his master will come from. Without the larger and more intimidating evolution of the Houndour, the four Pokémon surrounding Damien grow in confidence.
The native Pokémon all watch anxiously as the four Pokémon begin shoving and taunting the Houndour, tensely ready for any sort of real battle. If a battle breaks out, they will be ready to intervene; the woman seemed to have noticed the tense air, as she comes outside and watches as well. After a good five minutes of trying to rouse a fight out of Damien, the four Pokémon grow annoyed and Pichu suddenly uses Thundershock on Damien.
All of the Pokémon turn to look at the sudden attack, one Chansey rushes forward just in time for the Pichu to pass out from his own attack backfiring. The pink Pokémon picks up the injured small mouse Pokémon and tries to pick up Damien, but he ducks under her outstretched arm. The Chansey looks worried at the obviously slightly injured Houndour, but looks at the other four Pokémon and glares at them.
The Chansey runs back to the other Pokémon and after getting the door opened by another, she walks inside with the Pichu. The woman living on the area walks forward just as Pip the Meowth does, and the woman stands back to hope that Pip can sort things out. When Pip comes over, he holds out an Oran berry to Damien. The Houndour takes about half of the berry in one bite, feeling better already; the other three Pokémon notice this and silently get an idea.
The three move over to them and immediately begin taunting the two; mainly about Damien being Pip's loser friend. Damien ignores them and keeps his eyes locked onto the area where his master will be coming, keeping the thoughts of what will happen if he retaliates in mind. Ice and Diamond edging the bullies on doesn't help; they're silenced by Yen and Moon biting them after being woken up.
Even with his mind yelling at him not to, Damien goes into a blind rage and lashes out. When in a blind rage the Houndour gains strength from adrenaline and doesn't discern enemies from friends. As a dark and fire type, Damien knocked out the Ralts with a bite quickly, and then burned down Munchlax and Machop. Once they were finished with, Damien suddenly turned onto Pip and used a strong ember before launching into a bite.
A female's voice crying out in pain reaches Damien's mind and snaps the Houndour out of his rage. Tasting the metallic tang of blood, the Pokémon releases whatever he bit and immediately cowers. The brunette woman is holding her arm with Pip under her body; she had thrown herself on top of the Meowth and taken the bite on her arm to protect him.
In an instant, a loud howl pierces the air and chills everyone to the bone, as if it was the sound from the Grim Reaper himself. Damien is suddenly pinned down to the ground with his large father the one over him and fire threatening to blow out of his mouth as he snarls down at his son.
"Lucifer? What are you…"
The other four Pokémon belonging to the Dark-type collector rush up to him and begin talking to him frantically, but the man looks at them in confusion, unable to understand all their chatter at once. When talking to him one at a time, the Collector has been able to understand the gist of what they try to convey. Any explanation is not needed when he looks over and sees the woman sitting with her bleeding arm clutched in her other hand and plenty of Pokémon around her trying to help. The man waves his Pokémon away before running over to the woman and asking what happened.
The woman calmly explains the situation of the bullying Pokémon taunting Damien, Pip trying to help, even more bullying, and then Damien lashed out. The Collector sighs and orders Lucifer to get off, which he does immediately, but still stands above Damien and keeps a steady disapproving gaze on him. Damien keeps himself lying down on his side and staring out at nothing, disappointed in himself. The Dark-type Pokémon are told by their trainer to stay there while he helps the woman into the cottage.
All six of them wait outside the door while their master bandages the woman's arm and all the Chanseys, all five of them, are inside treating the hurt Pokémon. Damien only sits there because he was told to by his father and with the mood he's in there was no refusing him, although Damien would not normally disobey his father intentionally. When their master finally comes out, the man silently has his Pokémon return to their Pokéballs before leaving, mind heavy.
~*~
The Collector gazes upon the wondrous scene of the land called Paradise and smiles as he looks down at his faithful companion walking by his side. The Houndoom looks up at his master and peers at him through dark sunglasses that increase his dark attacks and hide his red eyes from view. The Pokémon looks around at the scenery and a bit of nostalgia hits him in a flash of memories. He makes a low bark to his master and taps his paws on the ground, saying he wants to go on. The Dark Collector nods and continues walking, his faithful companion following.
From a knock on the door, a woman opens it and seems a little shocked at the visitor, but smiles nonetheless. She ushers him in and politely asks if he would like anything to drink, but the man seems a little too stunned at the changes in her home. There is plenty of furniture now, a couple more beds, and it looks as though this cottage is more of a resting stop for travelers. The woman explains that is exactly what she has done with her cottage, since more and more trainers have passed by over the years and offered her payment for a night's rest. She got so many visitors that she was able to afford all the new furniture and even appliances like a stove, wardrobe, many more clothes, and even a clock.
The woman patted the Houndoom and offered him a berry, which he took after a nod from his owner. The woman commented on how big he got before addressing the Collector and getting to the point. This time, he wanted his six Pokémon to stay for a day and night, and his offer of money was agreed this time. With the okay for his Pokémon's vacation, the man walked outside and released his five other Pokémon; a Houndoom with a piece of charcoal necklace, a Weavile with a Nevermeltice necklace, a Sableye with a Spelltag on his chest, a Mightyena with a pair of sunglasses, a shiny Umbreon with a Quick Claw necklace, and the first Houndoom with the sunglasses joins the other five.
"You all know this drill. Be on your best behavior, alright?" The man orders calmly, and all six Pokémon make a noise of affirmation.
With a wave of his hand, the six Pokémon all run off into the land of Paradise they haven't seen for years. It was only one day spent there, but they all remember it clearly, even if nothing excited happened to them earlier during that day. Instead of the volcano, the two Houndooms went into the thick and dark forest after Yen and Moon. Once in the forest, the two Houndooms went on their own way towards the deeper and darker part while the Mightyena and shiny Umbreon stayed near the edge.
"We should've gone here last time." The sunglasses Houndoom muses.
"We hate grass Pokémon, but this is like the terrain we would live in if we were wild." The one with the charcoal answers.
"It does feel homely."
"Can you see with those things on?"
"Perfectly."
The two fall into a comfortable silence as they wander around the darkening forest and growl at any Pokémon that get too close. A rustling of bushes or trees perks their interest a few times, but when nothing comes out, the two Houndooms ignore it.
"Something's following us."The sunglasses one points out.
"I've realized. Perhaps it's someone making sure we don't fight this time." The charcoal-one points out.
A giant jet of water shoots out at high speed at the two, clearing all thoughts of someone just there to watch them; they had barely any time to jump out of the way, but both Houndooms managed to. Once on the ground, they hear a growling and a figure walks out of the darkness behind the trees into the slightly lighter part of the forest in front of the two Houndooms. Both are able to see the Pokémon clearly; it's a pissed-off looking Persian crouching down with his front claws sticking out, teeth showing in a snarl, and his tail uncurled and sticking up, all signs of an imminent attack.
The Houndooms respond by staying calmly in their spot and stare at the Persian. They all stay in their positions for a long while. After a good ten minutes, the Persian straightens up and twitches his ears and tail as he glares at the two Houndooms.
"What are you two doing back here? Shouldn't you be at the volcano instead of terrorizing the poor plant Pokémon?" The Persian growls at the two.
"No, we know the rules here and don't wish to have a repeat of last time." The charcoal-wearing Houndoom replies calmly.
"I have learned to know better than to trust trained Pokémon." The Persian flexes his paws and shows his claws while snarling.
"Fine, don't believe us, but we'll still be going on our way now." The closer Houndoom proclaims before taking a step forward.
The Persian swipes at the air in front of the Houndoom and makes him flinch back to avoid getting hit with a Slash attack.
"I still remember what you did last time you were here." The Persian growls as he crouches lower and takes a step towards the Houndoom.
"My dad did nothing bad. Or can you not tell me apart from my father, Pip?" The Houndoom with the sunglasses walks forward and stands next to his father.
Pip, the Persian, twitches his ears and glances between the two with his red eyes and stands up straight, still keeping his tail mostly uncurled.
"There's no difference between you two other than your items." Pip states with a sneer.
"Sure there are. Other than our items, dad here has some more scars than I do. My horns are longer than his," Damien smiles a bit at the last difference.
"I don't care!" Pip shouts out, interrupting Damien.
The Persian swells out his chest and looks over to Damien before opening his mouth and expelling a large and powerful Hydro Pump attack. The water attack at point-blank range pushes Damien off his paws and many feet back, until a tree blocks his path and he is pinned to it from the force of the water. Lucifer snaps out of the shock from the sudden attack on Damien and growls terrifyingly at Pip before jumping on the Persian and shoving his paw on the Pokémon's throat, successfully stopping the attack.
"Don't hurt my son!" Lucifer growls as the inside of his mouth glows with fire.
"Dad, stop."
The fire in the Houndoom's mouth vanishes immediately, still leaving a foul smell in the air from the toxins emitted from his body in his anger. Pip's look of terror goes to confusion as he looks from Lucifer to Damien. The other Houndoom is struggling to get up, obviously weakened considerably from the water attack, and has to lean on the tree to stay standing. Damien looks over at the two through his sunglasses, which miraculously stayed on through the water attack.
"Get off of him, dad. He had every right to attack me after what I did three years ago." Damien says while looking at Pip, although the Persian has a hard time figuring out who the Houndoom's looking at because of the sunglasses hiding his eyes.
Lucifer obeys his son's order and takes his paw off of Pip's neck and steps back, still glowering at the big cat Pokémon that is a good foot smaller than him. Pip gets up on his four paws and stares at Damien in confusion, but hides it behind a glare.
"Why did you do that?" The Persian questions with a harsh scowl.
"I saved you, you gave me food. I attacked you, you attacked me. I saved you again, and now you're in my debt." The Houndoom smiles at the Persian as his red eyes widen in shock and the scowl disappears from his face.
Pip's ears flatten and he tenses his muscles while twitching his tail and looking like he's deciding whether he should tear the Houndoom to shreds or not. Lucifer's terrifying growl reaches the big cat Pokémon's ears, since he was only a foot or so away. The Houndoom walks away from the Persian and over to his son, making a few noises indiscernible as being words or not to the Persian. Damien understands, though, and shakes his head at his father, earning a dark scowl, but a nod nonetheless.
Lucifer casts a glare at the Persian so quickly that it makes his fur stand on end, but as the glare continues, he glares back and hisses threateningly at the fire dog Pokémon. Lucifer turns his head back to Damien and nuzzles his son before turning away and bolting out of sight, making loud rustles from the bushes and scattering any Pokémon that were near him.
Pip looks over as Damien suddenly slumps to the ground with two of his legs stretched out awkwardly before he musters up enough strength to pull them under his body and lie down comfortably. The Persian watches the Houndoom, waiting for something to happen, but the Pokémon just keeps his body lying down and leaning on the tree while staring forward in the direction his father ran off. Seething in anger, suspicion, and for some reason nervousness, Pip walks forward to the Houndoom on silent paws. Damien looks over to Pip and seems a little startled at his sudden position closer to him.
"You sure walk quietly, I didn't hear you at all." Damien muses with a hint of amusement in his tone.
The Persian keeps a light scowl on his visage as he looks at the lying Houndoom, a little miffed that while lying down; he barely has to look down at the four-foot-seven Houndoom while being only three-foot-three himself. Pip then things to ask how Damien could hear anything, as he; and all Houndooms for that matter; don't have any discernable ears. Then he thinks better of it and says what he intended to.
"Whatever you intend me to do to pay you back, it's not going to happen." Pip states sternly.
"Sure." Damien mumbles as he looks forward again.
"Really? Then why did you bother saving me in the first place?" The Persian glowers at the Houndoom.
"The fire from a Houndoom has toxins so potent that if burned, it's said to hurt forever." Damien explains simply, giving no direct answer to the question.
"What do you care? You burned me, too." Pip feels his anger flaring at the memory; he had been pushed around before, but never full-out attacked before that day.
"When I was a Houndour, I was very brash and my temper was short. If pushed too far, I'd lash out in a blind rage and attack anyone, friend or foe didn't matter. I really don't hate you, Pip, I actually still appreciate your help three years ago. I'm sorry." Damien looks over at Pip and looks up at him over his sunglasses, looking at him with sincere red eyes.
Of all the reactions from Damien the Persian had anticipated, a sincere apology was not expected and really took him off-guard. Pip takes an uncomfortable step back as he looks at the ground uncertainly. Because of this Houndoom, then a Houndour, Pip's life had been re-defined. Instead of trying to befriend trained Pokémon, Pip avoided them and scorned their presence in Paradise. He spent the last three years fighting with the natives to grow stronger and evolve. The woman that lives in Paradise became a great friend of Pip's; when she got TMs as payment for letting trainers stay, she gave him three powerful ones and either sold, traded with trainers, or dispersed the rest among the Pokémon. She was the only human Pip liked, since if trained Pokémon were usually bad, then most humans probably are too, at least to Pip.
"I understand why you hold a grudge against me. No one would like getting attacked for no reason, especially by someone you thought was a friend. So I have no reason to want you hurt, especially not with an attack that will hurt forever even after the burn is gone." Damien continues, not knowing how guilty and confused he's making Pip.
The Persian keeps his head low and staring blankly at the ground, deep in thought and tumbling Damien's words in his head. Suddenly, the classy cat Pokémon collapses on the grassy forest ground with his head on his paws and staring with eyes full of guilt and regret in his eyes, mirrored somewhat on his face.
"Why…why are you being so nice now? You used to be a jerk…" Pip doesn't mention how it would be easier if Damien was still a jerk.
Damien smiles a very fang-revealing smile and makes a choking hiccupping noise, which oddly makes smoke puff out of his nostrils. The noise turns into snorting as a forced sneeze, which is strange enough for Pip to glance over at him. The Houndoom makes a few more forced sneezes before rubbing his nose a couple times with his paw.
"That's why I never laugh. Stupid smoke from my nose tickles." Damien rubs his nose on his paw before looking over at Pip with a smile. "A lot can happen in three years. I've grown in many ways, not just in power and evolution. I've learned to mature, control my temper, and see the world in a more open way, less focused on only myself….You've done a complete flip-flop of personality, too."
"So I've been told…" Pip glances back to the ground, not really seeing it.
"I've met many Persians in my life, Pip. Plenty of them have a fierce personality and your type are said to be hard to train." Damien twitches his tail and looks back forward.
A rustling catches Pip's attention too, even though he really didn't have anything nice to stay in response to Damien. Lucifer runs out from the trees looking tired and ragged, holding a dirty brown bag in his muzzle that seems full of some round objects. The Houndoom glares suspiciously at Pip, uneasy about the Persian's closer proximity to his injured son. Still looking at Pip, Lucifer lowers the bag in front of Damien and releases it in front of his son's face.
Damien nudges the bag open with his paws and nose to reveal the contents are various berries while Lucifer glares at Pip and the Persian ignores him. The bag is full of mainly Oran and Sitrus berries, those known to heal injuries. After a thanks and a not-unkind order to stop glaring to his dad, Damien begins wolfing down the berries messily, wiping his muzzle on the grass after he finishes eating.
"Thank you again. Where is the sun now?" Damien looks up to his standing Father.
"Tilting to the west, well near the Earth, Damien." Lucifer replies as he looks down at his son.
"You look tired, dad, you should go to the volcano and rest." Damien offers as he tilts his head to the side.
The Houndoom glances over to Pip with a glower of red eyes, still not getting a look back. Lucifer then looks back to his son and nods before turning around and taking his time walking out of their sight.
"Why does your father listen to you like that?" Pip questions once he's sure the elder Houndoom is out of earshot.
"I told you, I have longer horns. You must not know, I see." Damien says at Pip's quizzical look. "For us Houndooms, we base our rank of superiority on the size of our horns and our strength. The one with the sharpest horns farthest to the back usually are leaders, but we'd also fight to get that position as well. But that's things we'd do in the wild as a pack, and my dad has never had any real qualms against following my orders."
"Did you have to fight him?" Pip questions.
"No, I'm stronger than him and he knows it. I'd feel horrible hurting my father just to prove I'm worthy of getting what I want done." Damien smiles as he stands up.
"You really don't seem that strong, Damien." Pip states in an undertone.
"Oh, really? Would you like to bet on that?" Damien says as he steps towards the Persian.
"Bet on what?" Persian looks up at Damien.
Damien nudges Pip's side with his paw repeatedly until the Persian finally stands up and looks up at the foot taller Pokémon.
"Bet on a battle. A play-battle, to the point where we give up or get too exhausted. If I win, you need to take back what you said about not going to pay me back for saving you." Damien explains with a smile that possibly reaches his eyes, but it's hard to see with the sunglasses.
"If I win?" Pip questions as he takes a few steps backwards, hiding an amused smile.
"Then we're even and you never have to interact with me again." Damien simply states.
The Persian manages to jump out of the way just as the Houndoom uses Crunch and only catches the air in his powerful mouth. Pip acts quickly and Slashes at the Pokémon, managing to get him on the side of his face. Damien jumps back and shakes his head, forcing away the pain before running to Pip and using Payback through a tackle, which sends the crème-colored Pokémon on his side to the ground. Pip's fur stands on end as he gets onto his legs while lying down and Damien notices a change in the air just before Pip uses a Thunder attack on Damien.
The Houndoom takes the attack for a few moments before its ended and he uses the small opening to use Crunch, this time managing to bite Pip's neck. In a panic, Pip lashes out and Slashes Damien's face, getting him right over the eye. Damien yelps and releases Pip immediately as fire starts to glow at the back of his throat, but the Houndoom clamps his mouth shut before using Payback once more and sending Pip back to the ground.
Damien canters a few paces away and forces himself to open his injured eye to make sure it wasn't damaged, unaware of Pip standing up and opening his mouth to use an attack. Damien notices when his eye, still working, sees him preparing an attack out of peripheral vision and runs out of the way just in time to miss getting hit with another Hydro Pump.
The battle goes on like this for a good twenty minutes, and the area around them soon becomes full of claw and bite marks, muddy with water, and even a few burns from Flamethrower and even a couple trees seemed to be all but disintegrated or splintered from a few attacks of Hyper Beam. The battle ended with a tie when a Kangaskhan came in and tore them apart, scolding them for their rough battle that made a good clearing in the forest. They both ate the rest of the berries Damien's father got him to heal their injuries.
The Kangaskhan also took it upon herself to carry them both outside of the forest and drop them off at the edge before telling them off again and leaving. Now outside of the dark forest, they realize it's already night, which was hard to tell from the dark forest. Pip led Damien to a cave that was carved into the side of the mountain, already inhabited by a bunch of other sleeping Pokémon. With nowhere else to go until morning, Damien pushed aside his distaste for large crowds and joined the sleep cave.
When morning came, Damien went out to the house and sat beside it to wait for his master to come. Only Yen and Moon sat and talked with him while waiting with him; the rest of the Pokémon stayed at their areas because they didn't believe their master would come so early. During the middle of the day and still no sign of their master, a large bag of berries was dropped in front of the three. Damien managed to get the Pidgeot to fly down to him and talk about the food.
Apparently Paradise doesn't have many predatory Pokémon and those that are usually only hunt Pokémon that are in such abundance almost no one would notice a few absent; those that did notice had to accept that that is how things worked. Damien was surprised to learn that birds were the primary carnivores, but mainly insectivores, and the only big predator in Paradise was Pip the Persian. Almost every other Pokémon in Paradise was a herbivore, and with the feral tendency to scratch things for no reason, he was easily one of the most feared Pokémon around.
Damien, Yen, and Moon stayed around their spot, moving around a couple times, but they stayed around for the entire day. When twilight came around, Pip came over to join them and talk until night rolled in, where he led them all to the cave. The next morning, all six of the Dark Collector's Pokémon stayed around the dirt road, growing anxious and worried every time the sun sunk even an inch lower. Dark Ice and Diamond, surprisingly, were the most affected from the worry about the absence of their owner. They freaked out and both broke down into tears by midday and still no sign of their master; the rest of the dark Pokémon and a few empathic natural Pokémon of Paradise comforted them.
Come nightfall, the six of the Pokémon spent the night at the dirt road waiting for their master to show up. When the morning of the third day came, it finally dawned on the Pokémon that their master might not show up at all. These six are…abandoned. They all reacted differently to the realization; Yen and Moon went back into the forest to mope silently; Ice went up to the top of the mountain and buried herself under the snow to hide her crying; Diamond went to the one place he hated, up a tree; Lucifer went to the volcano after checking the woman's house, only to find she was gone; Damien filled his bag with berries before going back to the road and sitting there for another hour before making up his mind just as Pip walked over to him.
"Where are you going?" Pip asks while Damien begins walking down the dirt road. The Persian has to jog a bit before walking next to him.
"To the town down this road to find my master. If he's there, he must have some good reason for leaving us here like this." Damien answers while the bag tied around his neck swings while he walks.
"And if he's not?" Pip questions innocently.
Damien doesn't answer right away; Pip can't even tell if the Houndoom is mad because of the sunglasses blocking his eyes.
"And if he's not…then I'll keep travelling to every place I've been until I find him." Damien finally answers.
The answer is so surprising that Pip literally stops in his tracks for a good few yards. When he snaps out of it, the Persian runs forward and catches up with Damien while looking dumbstruck at him.
"Damien, why would you go through all that trouble? The rest of your friends are all going to live in Paradise." Pip says as calmly as he can, trying to wonder why he feels so hurt thinking about Damien leaving.
"No they're not. They went off to mope and get their sadness out before joining me. I know all of them, that's exactly what they'll do." Damien explains as he keeps walking.
"But…why do you even care? Your master abandoned you." Pip feels desperate to try and convince Damien not to leave. Pip glances around quickly and notices they're a good distance away from Paradise now.
A low growling makes Pip's muscles tense in anticipation to protect himself, but he forces himself to stay calm.
"Master would not leave us like that. If he has abandoned us, I at least want to hear him tell me myself. Unlike the others, I'm not jumping to that conclusion just yet."
The Persian jumps in front of Damien and bristles his fur while snarling at him, successfully stopping Damien in his tracks.
"Damien, just face it! You had two days to wait and he never showed up! You've been abandoned." Pip flexes his claws in and out with a mix of anger and hurt on his face.
"I want to hear that from him." Damien answers calmly as he walks forward, moving sideways to skirt the Persian. Pip slashes at the Houndoom and makes him jump back.
"If he hasn't shown up for three days, that should be proof enough!"
"And what do you propose I do? Just turn around and go back to Paradise with a mind heavy on what could've been? Wondering if my master actually abandoned us or if he was lost or in trouble and I could've helped? I couldn't live with that heavy on my mind. I have to know, Pip, so let me through." Damien calmly walks forward.
Pip moves aside and lets Damien walk by silently, staring at the ground for a few minutes. The Persian looks over his shoulder and watches Damien walk out of sight before walking back to Paradise. Not long after Pip sulks into the area, he is met with an even more depressing sight. All five of the other Pokémon are walking towards him with determined looks on their faces and a bag tied around the Weavile's neck with the main body of the bag hanging around her back. When the Persian confronts them, Lucifer says that Damien did what they should've done in the first place and now they're going ahead to catch up with him. Pip tells them that Damien walked and they could probably catch up to him if they ran; they thank him before doing just that.
For three days, life returned to normalcy for the Pokémon of Paradise with the loss of the four trainer-owned Pokémon. The woman came back only hours after they had left and apologized for leaving, saying she got held up to sell many TMs and it took a long time for trainers to come to agreements and not get into fistfights over the TMs. None of the Pokémon told her what happened, thinking she didn't really need to know, as the man and his Pokémon weren't that very important.
On the fourth day, the unexpected happened to the Pokémon of Paradise; Ice, Yen, Moon, and Diamond came back, but neither of the Houndooms did. With heavy hearts, they explained that it was true; their trainer had given up being a Dark-type Collector and was abandoning his Pokémon in Paradise so that they could be everywhere they loved while also being together. From the one question a few had, it turned out Lucifer and Damien were both too loyal to their trainer to leave just like that; it was in their nature to be fiercely loyal. Many of the natives voiced that the less newbies the better, while a few of the nicer Pokémon comforted the abandoned Pokémon and some just walked away.
The woman seemed more than happy to take care of the heartbroken Pokémon as they tried to get over their being abandoned. It only took a couple hours for the four Pokémon to get integrated into Paradise almost as one of their own, although it would take a lot longer for them to be fully accepted. One day after they started to live their new life, it was almost back to square one when none other than their old trainer came back with Lucifer and Damien walking by his sides.
The ex-Dark Collector talked to the woman about his predicament; the man was engaged to his childhood sweetheart back in his home town and wouldn't be able to settle down as he was living. He knew how much his Pokémon loved to wander and fight, but with the way his life was going, he wasn't going to do either of those. He thought it would've been best to just leave them, but should've known that they'd find him.
Many of the natives had come to listen and there were mixed reactions when the man said that Damien and Lucifer were going to stay with the man and his family as house pets. A few of the Pokémon made snide comments about how they can't buy that, but the two stay silent beside their master. When the man's Pokémon arrive, they all give him hugs and nuzzles and Lucifer and Damien farewell hugs and nuzzles as well. Just as they start to leave, Damien seems to remember something, turns around, and runs off back towards the forest.
The Houndoom wanders around, following his senses as his eyes start to fail because of the dark forest and his sunglasses deter his vision. The tang of blood becomes pungent in the air and the Houndoom follows the scent, mouth starting to salivate at the tasty smell of fresh meat. Damien walks faster and runs towards the scent, but then slows down to a walk. When the scent is right in front of him, Damien stops and peers between a few trees to watch what he wasn't expecting.
There seems to be a small pile of Rattatas, all torn to pieces by claws and fangs, the only reason Damien can tell that they're Rattatas is because of the smell. And gorging on the raw flesh of the slaughtered Rattatas is one crème-colored fancy cat Pokémon, although the Pokémon seems more intent on just tearing than actually eating. Damien builds a bit of fire before spitting a bit out, roasting some of the pile and startling the Persian.
The Persian jumps back from the sudden roasting of his meal and glances in the direction it came from suspiciously, red eyes darting around to find the source. Damien walks out with a smirk showing his fangs and darts his devil tail around, tilting his horned head to the side before looking down at the pile of now nicely-browned meat.
"I heard you were leaving to live the good life as a house pet. Instead you're here ruining my meal." Pip grumbles as he looks back to the pile.
"I am, and I think you should try it before just saying that I ruined it." Damien replies as he bends down and eats a piece of toasted meat.
"Your friends said that you two were too loyal to leave. I'm surprised you're here at all." Pip uses his paws to wipe the blood off of his muzzle.
"Yes, well-"
Damien's words are cut off as he suddenly has claws sliding down the sides of his neck, just missing his jugular, but leaving a few good marks. The Houndoom yelps and backs away while staring incredulously at Pip, who has his ears flattened and is hissing at Damien before slashing at the air in front of him.
"What was that for?!" Damien backs away and snarls.
"Being a jerk! You left everyone here without bothering to think of how anyone but yourself would feel!" Pip crouches down and sticks his tail up, signs that he's about to pounce.
The Houndoom reads the signs and jumps to the side just in time to miss getting claws dug into his sides, and has to keep jumping away as the Persian continues to try and attack him. Damien manages to duck under a Slash and move his head up and…nuzzles the side of Pip's visage. The Persian freezes up at the Houndoom being so close, just keeping his head on top of Damien's neck as the Houndoom keeps his own head on Pip's shoulder.
"What are…" Pip tries to ask, but the words die in his throat.
"I talked master into coming back to not only say goodbye. I wanted to ask you to come live with us." Damien admits as he keeps his muzzle close to Pip, making sure to be cautious of his horns.
That shocks Pip into darting back and out of the intimate moment, staring at the Houndoom in a large mass of confusing emotions, while Damien stares at him flatly. The Houndoom steps towards the Persian and smiles at him before lowering his head and using his paws to knock off the sunglasses that were hanging around his horns for support. Damien looks up to Pip with his revealed red eyes, eyes where the smile really does reach. Pip still stares at Damien in shock before glancing around nervously and then looking back to Damien.
"Do you…really mean that?" Pip asks warily.
"Of course I do, Pip. But…you've been wild you're entire life. If you don't think you'll handle humans well…I can't blame you if you don't want to deal with them." Damien glances around nervously.
The Persian nervously walks forward and looks at the ground before bending down and picking up Damien's sunglasses gently in his muzzle. Damien lowers his head and stays still as Pip looks up and gently, with a little difficulty, places the sunglasses around Damien's horns and releases them, which makes them fall onto his muzzle and in front of his eyes.
"I can put up with people." The Persian says with a smile as he takes a step back.
Damien smiles, steps forward, and licks the top of Pip's brow, just between the ears. The Persian blushes and uses his paw to wipe his head in embarrassment while Damien makes a chuckle that makes smoke come out of his nose and makes him sneeze, which makes the fancy cat Pokémon snicker in return. Damien turns around and after a "Race ya", bolts off to the exit of the forest, and by what he hears, with Pip not far behind.
About halfway though, Pip catches up and gets ahead by pouncing onto Damien's back and launching himself off of the Houndoom and running off. They then break out of the forest and continue their race past the Pokémon, but come to a skidding and, in Damien's case, rolling halt at the sight of Damien's father and master. The ex-Collector laughs at his Pokémon's tumble before noticing the Persian and crouching down in front of him. The man reaches out and strokes Pip's head as Lucifer checks over his son before glaring half-heartedly at the fancy cat Pokémon that is purring as the man pets him.
"My fiancée would love you." The man says with a smile.
Pip answers with a cry of "Purr-persian" and nuzzles his head into the man's hand. Damien smiles and nudges his head on his father's neck to make him stop glaring. The man digs into a bag at his side and pulls out one Pokéball and shows it to the Persian. He sniffs it before pressing his nose against the center, which makes it open with an odd pop noise and shoot out a red beam and sucks the Pokémon into it. The red of the middle fades to white almost immediately and the man releases what is now his Pokémon.
Damien walks over to Pip and playfully nudges him, earning a growl and a nudge back from the Persian's shoulder. The man smiles and snaps his fingers, Lucifer and Damien immediately walk over to his sides while Pip stares up at the man in confusion.
"Just walk wherever you feel comfortable." Damien says with a smile to the Persian.
Pip nods and walks over to stand next to Damien just as the man turns around and begins to walk down the dirt road. Lucifer trots over and walks on the man's left; Damien walks on his master's right and Pip walks proudly in front, holding himself proud as if a king. Damien smiles as he watches the Persian walking and wonders what the future will hold for them all.
I
DON'T
KNOW

I've had this forever and just decided to write it after many months of working on it. Many alternate versions were made. Like Pip became more of a ' protector' for the pokemon or a piece of his ear was bitten off from Damien, and in all but this those four Pokemon came back after getting to their final evolution and instigating Damien into another fight in which Pip steps in and blasts them all with Hyper Beam till they fainted.
In one version they had sex in a cave and then were all like "oh shit, we just did that and don't even really know anything about each other." and it was awkward. In another Damien had found Mew and saved his life and was granted the fith ability to use Transformation and become human and also use it on others if he was holding them.

Oh, the Machop is Stan
Ralts is Kyle
Pichu is Kenny (since they faint from their own power and Kenny dies alot)
Munchlax is Cartman for obvious reasons
